The Washington Commanders have waived rookie running back Kaytron Allen after playing him in each of their first four games. Washington hopes to re-sign the sixth-round pick to their practice squad if he manages to clear waivers without being claimed.
Allen's release comes as the Commanders manage a crowded backfield, with Austin Ekeler recently returning and Jeremy McNichols nearing activation from injured reserve. Selected 187th overall out of Penn State, Allen logged 12 carries for 41 yards for Washington prior to being cut.
