30 NHL players placed on waivers for Sept. 24

A total of 30 NHL players were placed on waivers on Thursday as teams continue preseason roster cuts. Players who clear waivers become eligible for assignment to their respective American Hockey League affiliates. Both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Minnesota Wild placed eight players on waivers to lead the league in transactions for the day.

Notable players on the waiver wire include Toronto Maple Leafs forward Steven Lorentz, who carries a $1.35 million cap hit. Goaltenders Leevi Merilainen of the Ottawa Senators and Matthew Murray of the Nashville Predators were also placed on waivers, while Minnesota's list included Tyler Pitlick and Carson Lambos.
