It feels like it’s been a particularly painful start to the season in the NHL. The Anaheim Ducks are the latest team to get hit with the injury bug to a star player: In their case, Cutter Gauthier on Saturday…

Anaheim Ducks forward Cutter Gauthier exited Saturday night's game and was ruled out with an upper-body injury. The exact incident leading to the injury was not immediately clear during the game, but viewers first noted his absence on a first-unit power play before the team confirmed he had retreated to the locker room and would not return.
The 22-year-old winger had recorded two goals and two assists through the first four games of the season. Gauthier entered the campaign following a breakout 2025-26 season in which he tallied 41 goals and 28 assists across 76 appearances for the Ducks.
