We may have jumped the gun in NHL expansion. Predators GM lays out his plan to their veterans. The Jets and Hellebuyck are struggling, and the Ducks may need some veteran defensemen.

TSN reports that potential NHL expansion to Texas has been placed on the back burner due to owner pushback over competitive balance and state tax concerns. Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Jets and suspended goaltender Connor Hellebuyck are struggling to navigate a trade resolution as Hellebuyck continues to lose money daily following his decision not to report to training camp.
Elsewhere, Nashville Predators GM Chris MacFarland may pursue major changes involving veterans Roman Josi and Steven Stamkos if the team starts poorly. In addition, the Anaheim Ducks are expected to explore trade options for an experienced defenseman deeper into the season after losing several veteran blueliners in free agency.
