Boston Bruins backup goaltender Michael DiPietro has capitalized on limited playing time this season, securing four consecutive victories. Through Boston's first 17 games, the 27-year-old has compiled a 4-1-0 record, a .925 save percentage, his first NHL win, and his first NHL shutout while serving behind primary starter Jeremy Swayman.
DiPietro earned the NHL backup role after winning consecutive AHL Best Goaltender awards and league MVP honors with the Providence Bruins. General Manager Don Sweeney paved the way for DiPietro's NHL promotion by trading Joonas Korpisalo in July.
