Sabres demote blueliner after returning from road trip…

The Buffalo Sabres have reassigned defenseman Dennis Gilbert to their AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, ahead of a four-game homestand. Gilbert recorded two points in five games following his recall after Matt Grzelcyk was placed on injured reserve. The demotion suggests injured defensemen Grzelcyk or Conor Timmins may be nearing a return to the Buffalo lineup.
Elsewhere, former Sabres defenseman Nikita Zadorov received a $5,000 fine for punching Alex Vlasic during Boston's game against Chicago. In the AHL, the Rochester Americans secured a 6-3 victory over Lehigh Valley, led by a goal and two assists from Matthew Peca.
