The Buffalo Sabres could be a dark horse team in the Dylan Larkin chase, amid escalation in the saga on Thursday.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported on the 32 Thoughts Podcast that the Buffalo Sabres have explored pursuing Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin. The Sabres are considered a dark horse contender to acquire Larkin in a potential trade following their failure to land Connor Hellebuyck. Detroit is reportedly willing to present strong offers to Larkin's camp despite Buffalo not being officially confirmed on his trade list.
Nestor Quixtan highlights that Buffalo faces major hurdles regarding Larkin's high asking price and salary cap limitations. Quixtan notes any potential deal would likely demand forward Jack Quinn while requiring Buffalo to shed significant salary.
