Goalies have always been a little… different.

Calgary Flames goaltender Devin Cooley shared his unusual mental philosophy following his first win of the season, a 3-2 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes. Cooley explained that he relies on his unconscious brain rather than overthinking during fast-paced games, urging himself not to think, smile too much, or linger on past mistakes. The 29-year-old stopped 34 of 36 shots to secure the win.
Addressing early-season concerns after Calgary's 2-6-0 start, Cooley dismissed panic surrounding the team's goaltending tandem with Dustin Wolf. Cooley expressed full confidence in goaltending coach Jason LaBarbera, their work ethic, and the overall process, maintaining that the tandem will stabilize as the season progresses.
