NHL Rumours: Trade Interest Growing for Calgary Flames Zach Whitecloud

Calgary Flames defenceman Zach Whitecloud is reportedly drawing significant trade interest from multiple NHL clubs. According to reports from David Pagnotta and Elliotte Friedman, several teams have monitored Whitecloud since his arrival in Calgary, with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens among the interested parties. TSN's Darren Dreger previously noted that 15 or more teams have circled the veteran blueliner as Calgary navigates its ongoing rebuild.

Whitecloud has two years remaining on his contract carrying a team-friendly $2.75 million annual cap hit. Writer Lori Bennett notes that while Whitecloud provides leadership for Calgary's young defense corps, general manager Craig Conroy could consider a trade if an opposing club makes an enticing enough offer.
