Early into the 2026-27 season, the Calgary Flames’ rebuild isn’t going all that well. That’s not necessarily a bad thing if you want the team to win, as they picked up their third consecutive victory this past Saturday. Taking on…

The Calgary Flames earned their third consecutive win by defeating the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 in the penultimate match of their four-game home stand. Goaltender Devin Cooley starred once again, turning away 29 of 30 shots to secure the victory. Calgary's offence was led by Joel Farabee, who recorded a goal and two assists, alongside goals from Zayne Parekh, Matvei Gridin, and Ryan Strome.
Flames special teams played a crucial role in the outcome, finishing 2 for 2 on the power play and successfully killing both penalties. Writer Cynthia Ryley Delaney noted that despite weak five-on-five expected goal metrics across most forward lines, winning games may complicate the team's ongoing rebuild by jeopardizing higher draft picks. The Flames will conclude their homestand on Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
