Cole Caufield made NHL history by scoring just 30 seconds into overtime to give the Montreal Canadiens a 5-4 victory over the Utah Mammoth on Thursday at the Bell Centre. The goal was Caufield's 15th career overtime tally, reaching the milestone in 384 games to surpass Connor McDavid as the fastest player in league history to achieve the feat.
Montreal overcame a four-point night from Utah's Logan Cooley, who scored a hat trick and added an assist. Adam Engstrom tied the game late in regulation for Montreal, while Nick Suzuki recorded a goal and two assists in his return from injury alongside goals from Arber Xhekaj and Kirby Dach.
