Defenseman Alexander Nikishin appears poised to make his season debut for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. Nikishin skated alongside Shayne Gostisbehere and took power-play reps during the morning skate, telling reporters that he is ready to play after recently signing a one-year contract.
The Hurricanes host Chicago leading the Metropolitan Division and the NHL with a 13-3-2 record through 18 games. Adding Nikishin bolsters Carolina's blue line following an offseason trade request, rejoining a roster currently led by strong starts from Sebastian Aho, Logan Stankoven, and Jackson Blake.
