The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Montreal Canadiens 6-4 on Tuesday, October 6, powered by strong performances from Sebastian Aho and Taylor Hall. Hall recorded his first two goals of the season to earn first star honors, while Aho contributed a power-play goal and two assists. Andrei Svechnikov secured the road victory with a late empty-net goal after Montreal had narrowed the deficit to 5-4.
The victory improved head coach Rod Brind'Amour's team to a 2-1-1 record on the season after completing a two-game road sweep. Carolina went 1-for-5 on the power play and successfully killed five of six penalties during the contest. The Hurricanes next return home to face the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday, October 8.
