The defending champion Carolina Hurricanes are set to face some adversity here in the early going of the new season. First it was news that Jordan Staal is going to miss a big chunk of time with injury, and now…

Carolina Hurricanes forward Taylor Hall suffered an upper-body injury during Tuesday's 4-2 victory against the Washington Capitals. The team announced during the second period that Hall would not return, following a heavy first-period hit near the boards. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour provided a concerning post-game assessment regarding Hall's status, noting that the injury "doesn't look good, either."
Hall's potential absence compounds early-season injury issues for the Hurricanes, who are already playing without Jordan Staal and Seth Jarvis. Hall has recorded five points in seven games this season, skating alongside Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake. According to Daily Faceoff, AHL Chicago wingers Bradly Nadeau or Felix Unger Sorum are potential candidates to replace Hall in the lineup.
