Carolina’s top goal scorer cleared a major recovery hurdle at Thursday’s practice, swapping his injury bib for full-contact drills as his early return to the lineup nears.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis took a significant step toward returning to the lineup by shedding his non-contact jersey during Thursday's practice. Jarvis, who underwent summer shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff, participated in full-contact drills for the first time since training camp started.
While Jarvis was skating as an extra and was ruled out of Thursday's game against the Vancouver Canucks, head coach Rod Brind'Amour confirmed his recovery remains on schedule. Jarvis was initially expected to miss four to six months following surgery, but reported that his shoulder is feeling good as he eases into contact.
