Chicago Blackhawks captain Connor Bedard will not be ready for the start of the regular season as he continues recovering from shoulder surgery. Head coach Jeff Blashill informed reporters on Wednesday that the team is not close to having Bedard return to practice, ruling him out for the season opener against the Vegas Golden Knights on September 29.
Bedard injured his shoulder late last season and underwent surgery in July, receiving an initial four-month recovery timeline that extends into November. The 21-year-old center led Chicago with 75 points in 69 games during the 2025-26 NHL campaign.
