Patrick Kane recorded his 895th career NHL assist during the Chicago Blackhawks' 4-3 overtime victory over the Winnipeg Jets. The assist moved him past Phil Housley for the most assists by a U.S.-born player in league history. Kane, who is already the all-time scoring leader among American skaters, set up Connor Bedard on a first-period power play for the milestone point.
Bedard became the 99th different Chicago teammate Kane has assisted on a goal. After three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, the 37-year-old veteran rejoined the Blackhawks on a two-year, $16 million contract. Kane now needs 53 goals to surpass Mike Modano's record for the most goals scored by an American NHL player.
