The Colorado Avalanche may have selected a player in the 2026 NHL Draft that will help them sooner than later. He’s certainly put up a strong season.

Colorado Avalanche prospect Egor Shilov is having a productive start to the season with the Victoriaville Tigres in the QMJHL. Selected 43rd overall in the 2026 NHL Draft, the left-shot center has recorded six goals and 11 assists through 12 games, highlighted by a two-goal, one-assist performance against the Newfoundland Regiment.
Writer Graham Tiedtke highlights Shilov's potential on the power play as a key reason for his draft selection and future NHL outlook. While acknowledging Shilov may need time with the AHL's Colorado Eagles, Tiedtke suggests Colorado's history of promoting young players could eventually earn him a role under head coach Jared Bednar.
