The Story in 60 Seconds

The Colorado Avalanche have recalled defenseman Keaton Middleton from their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, to provide extra depth on the blue line ahead of back-to-back games against the Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets. The Denver Gazette's Evan Rawal reported that no new injuries prompted the recall, with Middleton serving as a reserve option for head coach Jared Bednar.

The roster move provides added defensive flexibility while the team manages the long-term loss of veteran Josh Manson, who is expected to miss eight weeks due to an ankle injury. With Noah Juulsen filling Manson's spot and Brent Burns partnering with Sam Malinski, the 30-year-old Middleton offers experienced cover, having recorded one assist in 11 AHL games this season.
