Matthew Knies Reacts to Historic Debut With Blue Jackets

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Matthew Knies reflected on his historic debut after tallying two goals and an assist in a 6-3 opening-night victory against the Buffalo Sabres. The three-point performance tied Artemi Panarin for the franchise record for most points by a player in their debut. Speaking post-game, Knies credited his teammates for making him feel comfortable and praised the home crowd's passion.

Head coach Rick Bowness commended Knies for his immediate impact and work ethic following his recent arrival via trade for Kirill Marchenko. Bowness highlighted Knies' physical presence, skill, and poise despite dealing with substantial transitions over the preceding days as the team secured the win.
