The Blue Jackets released their new Hometown Remix kits today, and it's hard to ignore the elephant in the room.

The NHL unveiled its new Hometown Remix series of jerseys for all 32 franchises, prompting Curtis Deem of Union and Blue to evaluate the Columbus Blue Jackets' new gray design. While Deem praises the cannon logo and overall detailing, he strongly argues that adopting gray as the primary color misses the mark for the franchise.
Deem criticizes the color choice given the team's historical ties to the Union Army during the Civil War, arguing that wearing gray conflicts with that identity. He contends the club should have retained its traditional colors, revisited its Stadium Series design, or referenced local history like the Columbus Chill.
