A mock trade pitch shows what kind of offer the Maple Leafs might need for a player like Thomas Harley. Even that might not be enough.

A mock trade proposal on PuckGM examined whether the Toronto Maple Leafs could acquire defenseman Thomas Harley from the Dallas Stars in an eight-asset package. The fan proposal pitched sending defensemen Jake McCabe and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, forwards Dakota Joshua and Brendan Brisson, prospect T. Koblar, two first-round picks, and a second-round pick to Dallas in exchange for Harley.
NHL Trade Talk reports that the concept is strictly a fan exercise rather than active discussions between the teams. The proposal was overwhelmingly rejected by 87 percent of community voters, noting that Dallas would likely decline swapping a top defenseman for depth pieces.
