The Dallas Stars are urging their offense to provide more support for goaltender Jake Oettinger following a 2-1 shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Oettinger's career-best shutout streak ended at 188:52 after Connor Dewar scored in the third period. Tyler Seguin forced overtime by tying the game with 30 seconds remaining, but Pittsburgh secured the win in the shootout.
Head coach Glen Gulutzan emphasized that the team cannot afford to waste Oettinger's stellar performances, as Dallas ranks 25th in the league with just 11 goals scored across five games. Despite the offensive struggles, Oettinger holds a 0.74 goals-against average and a .963 save percentage, helping the Stars concede an NHL-low seven goals this season.
