Red Wings Announce Dylan Larkin Decision, Final Roster Before NHL Opener

The Detroit Red Wings announced their final 23-man roster ahead of Friday's 2026-27 NHL season opener, confirming that Dylan Larkin will play. Despite requesting a trade over the summer and losing the captaincy, Larkin was named to the roster and will dress for the opener against the New York Rangers at Little Caesars Arena.

Larkin had missed early sessions with an off-ice upper-body injury. Detroit trimmed its squad by sending goaltender Carter Gylander to AHL Grand Rapids, placing Jacob Bernard-Docker on injured reserve, designating Andreas Englund on immigration non-roster, and placing forwards Carter Bear and Chase Stillman on injured non-roster.
