Red Wings Could Land $9.5 Million MVP in Dylan Larkin Trade Scenario

Writer Todd Matthews suggests the Detroit Red Wings could target Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov in a potential blockbuster trade scenario involving Dylan Larkin. The proposal follows a report from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman stating Kucherov has requested a trade and will not re-sign with Tampa Bay. Larkin previously expanded his trade list to include Tampa Bay after being suspended without pay by Detroit.

Matthews argues that Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff should contact Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois regarding a deal. A proposed theoretical framework from Matthews includes Detroit sending Larkin, Michael Rasmussen, Shai Buium, and a 2028 second-round pick to Tampa Bay in exchange for Kucherov, Conor Geekie, and a 2029 third-round pick.
