The Story in 60 Seconds

The Detroit Red Wings suffered a late collapse in a 5-4 loss against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, conceding two goals in an 18-second span during the third period. Justin Barron scored the game-tying goal for St. Louis at 12:57, before rookie Aleksanteri Kaskimaki netted the game-winner at 13:15 against goaltender John Gibson. Kaskimaki's goal marked his first career NHL goal.

According to NHL.com reporter Dave Hogg, Kaskimaki became just the second Blues player over the past decade whose first NHL goal served as the game-winner, following Jake Neighbours in 2021. Writer Todd Matthews notes that the defensive breakdown left Detroit at the bottom of the Atlantic Division standings with 15 points despite holding a late lead earlier in the contest.
