Red Wings-Sabres preseason wrap-up: DeBrincat, Anton Johansson and the rest of Detroit’s roster embracing an edgier game

The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in overtime on Thursday evening to move to a 2-0-1 preseason record. Alex DeBrincat scored the winning goal on a power play 33 seconds into overtime, set up by Lucas Raymond. Axel Sandin-Pellikka and Sheldon Dries also scored for Detroit, while Trevor Kuntar and Jiri Kulich scored for Buffalo.

The physical exhibition game featured multiple scrums, including a third-period fight between DeBrincat and Kuntar following a hit by Detroit defenseman Moritz Seider. Daniil Tarasov made 17 saves for the Red Wings, while the Sabres lost both Alex Lyon to an upper-body injury and Kulich for precautionary reasons.
