The Story in 60 Seconds

Goaltender Devon Levi has delivered a dominant stretch of play for the Edmonton Oilers following an offseason trade from the Buffalo Sabres. Despite surrendering seven goals in an opening 9-7 victory, the 24-year-old has won his next three consecutive starts against the Seattle Kraken, Anaheim Ducks, and Los Angeles Kings. Across those three victories, Levi stopped 87 of 91 shots, highlighted by a 39-save performance in a 4-1 win over the Kings.

Edmonton acquired Levi on July 1 in exchange for third- and seventh-round draft picks in 2028. Heavy notes that Levi's surge comes while Edmonton manages an injury to Frederik Andersen and shares duties with Tristan Jarry. Meanwhile, the Sabres have struggled with netminder instability, as Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Alex Lyon, and Colten Ellis have dealt with fan criticism, injuries, and inconsistency early in the season.
