The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly exploring the trade market for a lateral swap, seeking to trade a depth defenseman for a forward to address early-season injuries. According to reports from Elliotte Friedman and The Fourth Period, defensemen Ty Emberson, Spencer Stastney, and Shakir Mukhamadullin have emerged as potential trade candidates, each carrying a salary cap hit under $2 million.
NHL Trade Talk notes that while Mukhamadullin has struggled early and Stastney has yet to play this season, Edmonton is not in an immediate rush to make a move. Forwards Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins are both day-to-day and expected to return following the team's road trip.
