The Philadelphia Flyers have assigned defenseman Hunter McDonald to AHL Lehigh Valley.

The Philadelphia Flyers have assigned defenseman Hunter McDonald to their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The transaction opens up a roster spot as the Flyers prepare to potentially welcome back wingers Owen Tippett and Travis Konecny for Sunday's matchup against Utah.
The 24-year-old blueliner appeared in five games during his recent NHL recall, recording 21 hits and two fighting majors while averaging 12:37 of ice time per contest. Because McDonald is waiver-exempt, the Flyers opted to send him down despite solid play alongside fellow recalled prospects Cole Knuble and Alex Bump.
