The injury bug has hit the Toronto Maple Leafs hard in 2026-27, with John Tavares, Max Domi, Dakota Joshua and Chris Tanev all on the shelf. That list got even longer on Monday night, as star winger Kirill Marchenko exited…

Toronto Maple Leafs winger Kirill Marchenko exited Monday night's 5-2 loss against the Calgary Flames with a lower-body injury. The incident occurred early in the second period following an awkward collision with Calgary forward Yegor Sharangovich, after which Marchenko's left leg appeared to be caught underneath him before he collided with the boards. Head coach Jim Hiller noted postgame that Marchenko's inability to finish the contest was not a good sign.
Prior to leaving after just 7:55 of ice time, Marchenko had registered 14 points in his first 14 games with Toronto this season. If the 26-year-old forward misses extended time, rookie Gavin McKenna is considered a leading candidate to step into the top-six forward group as the Maple Leafs prepare to face the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday.
