The Los Angeles Kings suffered a 5-2 defeat against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Crypto.com Arena. Pittsburgh established an early 2-0 lead through two first-period goals from Tommy Novak. Although Corey Perry scored to cut the deficit, Egor Chinakhov added a power-play marker to give the Penguins a 3-1 lead after twenty minutes.
Alex Laferriere scored on the power play in the second period for the Kings, but Sidney Crosby netted two goals, including an empty-netter, to secure Pittsburgh's win. Following the contest, Kings head coach Peter Laviolette and defenseman Mikey Anderson pointed to Los Angeles' sluggish start and costly turnovers as decisive factors in the loss.
