The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre. Montreal surrendered a 3-1 lead before Cole Caufield, Zach Bolduc, and Alex Texier all converted their shootout attempts, with Texier securing the game-winner. Lane Hutson, Caufield, and Josh Anderson scored in regulation for Montreal, while Sabres goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 35 saves to push the contest past regulation.
Buffalo stayed competitive through a two-goal performance from defenseman Olen Zellweger alongside a third-period tally by Josh Norris. Hutson led all Canadiens skaters with 27:07 of ice time and added an assist, while Montreal successfully killed all five Buffalo penalties. The Canadiens next travel to face the Washington Capitals in the second half of a back-to-back set.
