Right now, the talk in Montreal is all about the team's defense. Everyone knows the Canadiens are never out of it and have the offensive firepower to come back in games.
Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes addressed the state of the team's defense during an interview with Mario Langlois on 98.5 FM. Hughes acknowledged that the defense is not perfect and confirmed the team still has work to do. He stressed that while Montreal possesses offensive comeback ability, sustainable winning requires defensive responsibility and toughness rather than simply being entertaining.
Hughes also discussed forward Josh Anderson, who is entering the final year of his contract and was given an alternate captain's "A". Hughes reaffirmed an earlier pledge that Anderson will not be traded at the deadline as long as he plays up to his potential.
