On Friday morning, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman was the first to report that the New Jersey Devils were working with the Winnipeg Jets on a potential deal to bring 33-year-old goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to New Jersey.

The New Jersey Devils have acquired star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets in a blockbuster multi-player trade. The deal concludes months of speculation surrounding the 33-year-old Vezina Trophy winner, with Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman initially breaking the news of ongoing discussions between the two franchises on Friday morning.
In exchange for the superstar netminder, Winnipeg secured a return package reported to feature Dawson Mercer and Alexander Command. The trade ends an extended saga in Winnipeg and quickly prepares Hellebuyck to face his former team when the Devils visit the Jets on November 10.
