A Rare Devils Look For Cam Squires — & One Game Left to Use It

New Jersey Devils prospect Cam Squires was placed in the team's first practice group on Wednesday alongside several NHL veterans. Head coach Sheldon Keefe emphasized that while many roster decisions are already made, competition remains open due to the short training camp. Squires skated on a line with Cody Glass and Connor Brown during the session.

The 21-year-old forward is competing for a bottom-six role following a long-term injury to Nick Bjugstad, who is out four to six months. Squires, a 2023 fourth-round draft pick, recorded 16 points in 47 games with the AHL's Utica Comets last season. His final opportunity to play in a preseason game is expected to be on Saturday against the New York Islanders.
