The New Jersey Devils’ 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday came with a late stain on an otherwise…

New Jersey Devils forward Evan Rodrigues received a $5,000 fine from the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Sunday following a high-sticking incident. The fine, which is the maximum allowable amount under the collective bargaining agreement, resulted from Rodrigues striking Vancouver Canucks forward Marco Rossi late in the second period of Saturday's game in Newark.
The penalty occurred at 19:50 of the second period right after Nico Hischier scored to put New Jersey ahead 4-1. Rodrigues was assessed a double minor on the ice, and the fine proceeds will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. This marks the second fine of Rodrigues' career.
