The Story in 60 Seconds

A trade proposal published on PuckGM suggests the New Jersey Devils acquire Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin and a 2029 sixth-round pick. In exchange, Detroit would receive defenseman Dougie Hamilton with $3 million salary retained, forward Luke Evangelista, and a 2027 second-round pick. Larkin previously requested a trade from the Red Wings and reportedly includes New Jersey on his list of acceptable destinations.

The proposal follows New Jersey's blockbuster acquisition of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets for four players and two draft picks. While the proposed deal would add Larkin to a center group featuring Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier, writer Jonathan Vankin notes it leaves Detroit without a direct top-line center replacement.
