New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov will be sidelined for six to eight months after tearing the ACL in his right knee, the team announced Wednesday. The injury occurred during a third-period collision with New York Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad during Tuesday's 5-2 loss.
The 26-year-old blueliner has appeared in three games this season, recording a plus-2 rating with zero points. Romanov previously missed the majority of last season following shoulder surgery stemming from an injury suffered on November 18 against the Dallas Stars.
