A high-scoring deadlock dissolved in the third period as the Stars exploited defensive lapses, snapping the Islanders' point streak and handing Ilya Sorokin a frustrating six-goal defeat.

The New York Islanders saw their five-game point streak come to an end with a 6-3 defeat against the Dallas Stars on Sunday night in Dallas. After staying competitive through two tied periods, New York's defense faltered in the final frame as goaltender Ilya Sorokin allowed six goals in the loss.
Dallas took control in the third period with goals from Wyatt Johnston, Jason Robertson, and Mikko Rantanen. Robertson finished with two goals on the night, while Tyler Seguin and Justin Hryckowian also scored for Dallas to counter Islanders tallies from Matthew Schaefer, Kyle Palmieri, and Brayden Schenn.
