Islanders legend Bryan Trottier reveals what he considers to be the most special thing about hockey culture.

New York Islanders legend Bryan Trottier stated on the Ice Guardians podcast that he considers humility and mutual respect among players to be the most special aspects of hockey culture. Trottier explained that hockey players are uniquely gracious when their records are broken and respectful when setting new milestones across generations.
Trottier highlighted Gordie Howe supporting Wayne Gretzky and Gretzky cheering on Alexander Ovechkin as prime examples of this sportsmanship. Podcast host Brett Hull agreed with Trottier, contrasting hockey's team-first culture with an anecdote about former baseball star Joe DiMaggio.
