Matias Maccelli opened the scoring for New York late in the first period, but Ridley Greig tied the game for Ottawa during the second period. Goaltender Linus Ullmark stopped 20 shots to earn the victory and improve to 6-0-0 on the season.

Semyon Varlamov made 18 saves for the Islanders, who struggled on special teams alongside Ottawa, with both clubs combining to go 0-for-7 on power-play opportunities.
