The New York Rangers are shaking up their lines again, this time moving Will Cuylle to center and dropping Noah…
The New York Rangers are altering their forward lines by moving Will Cuylle to center and shifting Noah Laba to the fourth line. Dave Shapiro notes that Cuylle has never played center before and faces a steep learning curve with significantly increased defensive responsibilities in the team's defensive zone scheme.
Shapiro suggests the transition highlights the Rangers' need for center depth while evaluating Laba's defensive strengths. Additionally, the team adjusted its power-play units, promoting Gabe Perreault to the first power-play group in place of JT Miller, who shifts to the second unit.
