The New York Rangers shouldn't rush into a goalie trade in light of Igor Shesterkin's season-ending injury, and instead give an extended evaluation period to Dylan Garand.

Blue Line Station argues that the New York Rangers should rely on Dylan Garand rather than immediately trading for a goalie. Starting netminder Igor Shesterkin is out for the season with a right knee injury suffered against the Washington Capitals. With backup Joonas Korpisalo also sidelined with an injury, Garand stepped up by stopping 19 of 21 shots in a recent 6-2 victory against the Vancouver Canucks.
The writer notes that Garand holds a 2-1-0 record and a .945 save percentage early in the season. With over 70 games remaining, the author contends that rushing into a trade could unnecessarily deplete future draft capital. The Rangers are advised to give Garand and eventually Korpisalo an extended trial period before considering external trade options.
