The Kings scored 75 seconds in and never looked back. Now the Rangers get five days off to regroup before facing the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.
The Los Angeles Kings snapped the New York Rangers' home winning streak with a decisive 6-3 victory on Monday. Los Angeles took control early, opening the scoring 75 seconds in through Taylor Ward before Joel Armia and Drew Doughty added first-period goals. James Reimer surrendered three goals in the opening frame during his first start for the Rangers and was replaced by Dylan Garand to start the second period.
Artemi Panarin and Mikey Anderson extended the Kings' lead to 5-1 in the second period before Adam Fox answered on the power play. Tye Kartye cut the deficit to 5-3 late in the third period following an earlier deflection goal credited to J.T. Miller, but Joel Edmundson sealed the win with an empty-net goal against goaltender Darcy Kuemper's squad.
