The New York Rangers secured a 5-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. Leading 3-2 entering the final frame, the Rangers dominated the third period by limiting the Islanders to just five shots on goal. Alexis Lafreniere sealed the win by completing a hat trick with two empty-net goals, marking New York's fourth consecutive victory.
Oliver Bjorkstrand scored twice for the Rangers, including the game-winning power-play goal in the second period. Rookie center Cole Beaudoin made his NHL debut following an injury to Joe Veleno, while young defensemen Alberts Smits and Matthew Schaefer showcased their potential in the rivalry matchup.
