The Carolina Hurricanes earned their first victory of the season with a 3-2 overtime win against the Philadelphia Flyers. Sebastian Aho opened the scoring 10 seconds into the game and later tied it on a third-period power play. After surviving a late regulation penalty, defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere scored the game-winning goal on an overtime power play past goalie Joseph Woll without the game ever reaching three-on-three play.
Owen Tippett and Matvei Michkov scored Philadelphia's goals, while Andrei Svechnikov collected two assists for Carolina. Goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov made his first regular season start since December 20, 2025, to help secure the road win. The contest also marked forward Jordan Martinook's 800th career NHL regular season appearance.
