Edmonton Oilers winger Zach Hyman exited prematurely during the second period against the Detroit Red Wings after receiving a hit from defenseman Andreas Englund. Hyman struck his head against the plexiglass and fell to the ice. According to Jason Gregor of the Jason Gregor Show, Hyman is expected to miss at least a week due to a concussion, though the Oilers have not officially specified the injury.
The setback adds to extensive injury troubles for the Oilers, who are already missing Mattias Janmark, Matthew Savoie, Mattias Ekholm, Alec Regula, Frederik Andersen, and Devon Levi. Forward Jason Dickinson is expected to return from a lower-body injury to provide short-term relief as Edmonton maintains an 8-2-2 start to the season.
