Ahead of tonight’s game in Anaheim some surprising news has dropped as Florida’s Brad Marchand will play, reported by Jameson Olive, Director of Digital Platforms and later confirmed by the team. Less than three weeks ago it was thought that…

The Florida Panthers have activated veteran forward Brad Marchand from injured reserve ahead of their matchup against the Anaheim Ducks. Marchand returns after missing only two games following mid-August surgery related to previous hip and sports hernia issues. The 38-year-old was initially expected to miss the entire month of October, but will instead make an early return on Florida's top line alongside Sam Reinhart and Brady Tkachuk.
Marchand's return comes at a crucial time as the Panthers deal with captain Aleksander Barkov being placed on long-term injured reserve with a significant knee injury. The activation gives Florida roughly $2.25 million in salary cap room, though general manager Bill Zito will face roster decisions once Barkov returns later in the regular season.
