Marchand suffered the injury during Tuesday’s win over the Los Angeles Kings.

Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice announced on Friday that veteran winger Brad Marchand will miss six weeks due to a leg injury. The 38-year-old forward is expected to return to skating in approximately three weeks. Marchand sustained the injury late in the second period of Florida's 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday after an awkward fall involving Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke.
The game against Los Angeles was only Marchand's second appearance of the season after missing Florida's first two contests following offseason surgery. Now in the second year of a six-year, $31.5 million deal, Marchand scored one goal in his two games this season. The Panthers hold a 2-0-2 record ahead of their Saturday home opener against the Minnesota Wild.
